Review: Romance Writers’ Phrase Book

by Jean Kent & Candace Shelton

4 stars

A great reference to keep on your desk. It’ll jog your imagination and get the creative juices flowing when you’re looking for just the right word or description.

Trying to figure out how your heroine is looking at the hero? There’s a section for that. Flip to it, skim… decide on a phrase. Expand it, mold it, make it work for your story.

Turn “she glanced at him” to “she eyed him nervously, her gaze darting back and forth.”

My only complaint is that I’d love to see it modernized and updated.
