Here are a few nuggets to get you through the day.
I’m not a very good writer, but I’m an excellent rewriter. ~James Michener
Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart. ~William Wordsworth
Julie Leto has another interesting article about writing the book of your Voice rather than the book of your Heart. Read it here.
And finally, a word from me.
To those of you who haven’t written a word yet for the challenge… You still get a gold star for signing up. I don’t want you to feel like you haven’t succeeded at anything. You’ve joined the challenge, hopefully made new friends, and I’m sure that you’ve thought about your writing.
Some weeks, that’s all you can do.
So know that when we dish out tough love and tell you to get a move on, we’re just pushing you because sometimes it’s that push that will make you start writing.
Remember 100 words is better than zero.
We have about a third of our time left. Find a challenger and tell them what a good job they’re doing. Then… get back to writing. I’ll race you to the finish line.

I love the quote from James Michener! That’s me exactly. Occasionally the words pour brilliantly from my fingertips, but more often, I type out garbage and fix and fix and fix.
It’s chilly and cloudy today so a work day for me. The garden will have to wait.
Happy writing all!
Cheers,
Isabel
Michener’s quote fits me, too. The first drafts are dreadful, very painful. But I know that I can improve it when I revise. That’s one of the reasons I like to revise — I can see it get better bit by bit.
You know, I’m riding on a bit of a cloud right now, even with many words left to go to finish the challenge. You see, I had one of those bonafide magical writing moments yesterday, the kind where you walk into a scene with your jaw open and heart pounding in wonder. All because I signed up for this challenge.
So I have to say a big THANK-”U” to CataU for this opportunity!
Oh Lisa, that’s brilliant :hug Have to treasure those magical writing moments.
Me, I’ve got the flu.
So my good start to a new book I made last week (5000 words) has stalled.
Do other writers find this? That when they get to the end of a book, after pushing yourself, you fall in a bit of a hole?
I tend to get colds these days every time I finish a book. Crazy! Or could just be I have a kinder kid now so he’s bringing home the lurgies?
I’mot sure my word count got recorded.
I only did 100 words today. It was such a crazy day but did get better by night.
I enjoy the challenge whethe I make the words or not because it makes me write when otherwise, I’d probably procrastinate and do nothing.
I can’t believe how ideas have been visiting me.
