Day 26 – Check in!

Okay folks. It’s late. We’ve been at this for 26 days. I’m sure you’re tired. Your fingers might hurt.

But let’s push hard. Let’s pick up the pace. Push hard. Write, write, write. Before you go off to write, tell us where you’re at. Cheer on your fellow challengers. Check out a few blogs. And then get busy!

  1. :hug :whistle :write :) :) :) :) :) 05-26-2008 Happy Fingers :D

Just wanted to say I left for work with 9,999 words left to write lol. I came home and right now I sit at 16,001. I have a stupid question. What if the story goes past 25,000 words? I am trying to stop and tie it all up by then, but I’m not sure that is going to be possible.

:hmm :hmm :pound :pound :pound :pound

    Just had to ask :hmm

:waving Kathy Now back to the WIP :waving

  2. Well, I haven’t been here to check in for a few days. Unfortunately, I haven’t made much progress. I caught a cold and had some extra job-stuff to get done, which completely interfered.

I need about 15k before I reach my goal, so unless I write 5k for the next few days, I’m not making it. But I’ll still try for as much as possible! I hope everyone else is having an easier time of it. *smiles*

    So, here’re my stats:

    WC for the story: 3,777
    WC for the challenge: 10,557

    Blessings,
    Dena

  3. Kathy, sometimes my stories get longer as I write, but that’s okay. It just means that you are fleshing them out. At least by the end of the challenge you will be closer to getting done!

  4. Dena, sorry about the cold. I hope you are feeling better. It is extremely hard to work with your head all woozy. Just do what you can!

  5. Kathy, I’d write the story so it ends without feeling rushed. then if you need to cut, you can do it in other places. I once cut fifty pages by being stern with myself, tightening prose and taking out repetition and unecessary musing. It was a good lesson for me and I didn’t have to cut any scenes.

  6. Dena, you are doing great! That pesky cold and interfering job stuff should not be allowed. Keep at it!

  7. I Haven’t done much the last couple of days only added another 800 or so words. Kathy I gave up thinking my story would end up a novella when at chapter three, when I rfeached 25,000 and was only half way through the story I thought what the hell and decided it would be a novel. LOL. :write :write :whistle

Dena, hope your cold is better soon. Nothing worse than trying to write when you’re not well. Look at your writing from the other angle you have 10,000+ words then you did before you started. :goodjob

    Hugs :hug

  9. I have no energy but wrote like a madwoman Sunday and pounded out around 7000 words on two separate pieces.
    Yeah, I’m wonky like that.
May not make the 25,000, but the week is young.

  11. I reached 25,029 last night, so I’ve reached my word count for the challenge.

I have not reached the end of the story, however. It looks like I’m about halfway done, or maybe a bit more. I guess I’m writing a novel now. :)

Congrats to those who have finished. To those who are still working, good luck!

Dena, hope you didn’t catch my cold through cyber space ;)

I’ve been doing revisions rather than writing the last 2 weeks. Finished first round last night…phew.

  17. Kathy, you are very brave to tackle college algebra. Makes a stuck scene seem easy in comparison!

I’m amazed when my kids want help with their homework, how much actually stuck. But then they’re only in 4th and 8th grades so far.

  18. Well, it’s anticlimatic NOW since I already posted, but I reached the end of the challenge AND the book back on the 25th, with just over 27k words. I tell you, I’m having withdrawals now from speed writing!! LOL

  19. I got a late start, I just couldn’t seem to get motivated and then my meds kicked in. In the last few days I have written 20,000 words and have gotten my book manuscript restarted.
