Day Twelve

Hi Folks,

The weekend is over I’m sorry to say. If you’re like me you like to spend your weekends relaxing. It’s when I catch up on ‘me’ time and ‘reading’ time.

This past weekend, I felt a little guilty. But I know that b/c my batteries are fully charged I’ll be able to write a lot this week. And I’m looking forward to it.

We have roughly 19 days left in our challenge. Don’t lose your momentum. Keep it going. Think about The End. Think how great you’ll feel when it’s done and you’re ready to begin editing your work. Sending it off to a publisher.

Don’t forget to support your fellow challengers, on here and at their blogs. See if the person above and below you in the comments list is keeping a blog. If so, go visit. We have a list of Challengers Blogs on the right of the site. Get your pom poms out and cheer them on. :)

Don’t forget to check in and let us know how you’re doing. We’ve got lots of great inspirational posts coming up from our Co-Hosts. So be sure to check back for them. :goodluck

  1. I am sooo far behind. My sister had a baby on Thursday, so writing took a back seat for a little while. I hope I can dig myself out, but if not I at least want to keep the momentum going.

  2. Well, the past week sucked! I missed Friday’s check in because I had someone gone through the entire day thinking it was Thursday, until suddenly, it was Saturday and I realized it had really been Friday, not Thursday.
Anyway, a booksigning on Saturday and Mother’s Day dinner at my house and all the cooking and cleaning that entailed messed me up so basically, I am going to try and be good this week and we will see what I have to report this Friday.

  3. Marcy — congratulations on the addition to your family. You must be thrilled. You know, sometimes there are more important things in life than work! :c9 Just get back to it when you can and enjoy the wonderful time with the new baby!

  4. Cat – I hardly wrote yesterday, either. One of my sons came home and my parents were here for dinner, plus my brother and sister-in-law. And even though my husband grilled the main course, there were still a million things to do to get ready (plus the clean up). And after they all left, I didn’t feel like doing any more work, so I splurged and watched Pride and Prejudice. :whistle

  7. Ooh a finished story! Not mine. i spent the day cleaning and catching up after my trip. TOMORROW I start. No, really. I promise. I always feel I have a better jumping off place to write productively if the house is in shape.

Marcy congrats on the addition! Exciting stuff.

  8. I didn’t get any writing done on Sunday, too busy running around visiting Mothers (I have three), as well as having my grandson’s birthday.

Saturday I did manage another 1,772 words which brings my total 12,809 up to Sunday night.

    Happy wrwiting everyone.

    Hugs

  9. Glad to hear I’m not the only one behind. My weekend writing plans went straight down the drain!

I only managed about 600 words all weekend ( :censored ), taking me to about 7,200 total. I’m going to try to buckle down this week…

Yay, Sandie! You’re more than halfway done! :clap

  10. 5881, sigh. I need less encouragement and more beating with a broom until I write something.

  11. Will a hammer work, Emily? :pound

I think I’m in the same boat you are. I need someone to come crack a whip over me until I get to work.

  12. Okay, 6093. My turn, pass the mallet.

  13. And next in the Olympic hammer/mallet throwing event is…me with a total word count of only 7,540.
A sad 178 words today. :pound
Sigh. I want to write. I do.
May is a busy month for non-writing activities in my life.

  15. Weekends are my wind-down time too, so don’t be too harsh on yourselves.

We all need to recharge our batteries to keep the words flowing.

Some days are tougher than others… sometimes we need to do this :read rather than :write

It’s all part of feeding our creative souls :)

  16. May is always a hectic month. I’m not sure why that is.

OK, you self-perceived slackers. I know we are fixated on the word count here, but a better question is — did you waste writing time? If you truly did the best you could given life’s distractions, then there is nothing to beat yourself up about.

If you squandered your writing time, :( then it is time to get your butts in gear and get to work! :guns A little squandering is okay from time to time (and necessary to refuel our enthusiasm), but a little can lead to a lot so easily…. No excuses today!!!

And speaking of excuses — I received a package last night — the edits for my November book just showed up! But I’m on a deadline for my WIP so I can’t take any time away from my writing. I’ll have to do the edits in the afternoons when I’m generally too tired to write. Yet another adjustment!

  17. Congratulations, Marcy!

I’m on 17,793 words (did 4k yesterday) and I also have a finished story, which clocks in at 36, 253 words. I started it April 22 so *technically* I wrote it in a month LOL. Off on holiday tomorrow for 10 days, but I’ll be taking pen and paper with me to continue working towards my 25k for May!
