Yosemite Romance Writers is proud to present their online workshop for July.
Date: 07/06 – 07/31
Workshop title: Following the Thread: Writing Linked Trilogies
Description: Readers read novels because they love stories and people. Long before readers become attached to an author, they become attached to the characters in those stories. It’s natural, then, that trilogies are popular vehicles for readers. For authors, trilogies can increase book sales — both to readers and to editors. They can also sharpen your storytelling craft and allow you to tell a bigger story than one book alone can accommodate.
Harlequin editors have figured out a way to exploit the character connection by developing continuities, multi-book series in which they provide the stories and a selection of writers write the individual books.
Learn the ins and outs of writing trilogies and get your continuity questions answered in this workshop.
About the instructor: Kristin Hardy
Kristin is a three-time RITA nominee. She started out with Harlequin Blaze and now writes for Silhouette Special Edition. Her first novel, My Sexiest Mistake, won a National Readers’ Choice Award and was subsequently made into a movie by the Oxygen Network. She is a Waldenbooks bestseller and won a 2007 career achievement award for series romance from RT Bookclub magazine. She’s written five miniseries (trilogies, duets, and sextets (for Blaze, of course)) and participated in three continuities, most recently “The Fortunes of Texas: Return to Red Rock.” Her twenty-second book, “A Fortune Wedding,” hit the shelves June 2009.
