The Call

The Call: Kate Pearce

I’ve been writing seriously for about 5 years now, and after having my fourth child, I found myself wanting to write something short and really ‘out there’. So in six weeks I wrote Eden’s Pleasure a Regency set erotic romance. I allowed myself to write whatever fascinating erotic fantasies came into my mind.Horrifed by what I’d written :) I promptly hid the story at the bottom of my filing cabinet. Fast forward a year and my wonderful mentor who happened to write for EC coaxed the story out of me. She loved it.

Despite me insisting that it was in first person and that it was only 28,000 words she encouraged me to submit it to Ellora’s Cave. So I did last November.

A week later, I was checking my junk mail when I came across an email from EC requesting the full. I was surprised to say the least! (Note to all authors, don’t let this happen to you, I could’ve deleted it by mistake).

One cold wet Sunday afternoon in March another email popped up (I didn’t know editors worked at weekends) congratulating me and offering a contract. I was so happy I cried. (why do we do that?)

And here I am today-just about to see the e-publishing of my first ebook on November 16th.

Kate Pearce was born and bred in the UK and moved to far more sunny California in 1998. She writes in several romance sug-genres, is a member of RWA and wants to be Nora Roberts or Jane Austen when she grows up.
